Yamaha said its big off-road news is the introduction of the XT1200 Super Ténéré, a motorcycle with a heritage going back to the famous Paris to Dakar rally. The bike is powered by a DOHC 1200cc parallel twin engine. Its electronics incorporate Yamaha’s YCC-T fly-by-wire technology matched to an all-new traction control system. Three rider-selected modes are available. The Super Tenere features ABS and Unified Brake System (UBS) that work together to help prevent wheel lock during braking.
The Super Ténéré will be available through a Priority Delivery Program at dealerships nationwide beginning in September with customers placing advance deposits of $500 and deliveries beginning in May 2011. The model has a starting MSRP of $13,900 and will be available in blue and Raven.

A wide 210-series rear tire and chopper-inspired 21-inch front wheel reinforce the muscular styling. The bike also has steel fenders and a belt drive.
