MORGANTON, N.C. – Eric Williams credits college and on-the-job training for preparing him to open his own shop, Williams Powersports, at the age of 24.

“I went to Central Carolina (Community College) in Sanford. I got an associate’s degree in motorcycle mechanics,” Williams told the Morganton News-Herald. “After that, I worked two years for Blue Ridge Harley-Davidson and then worked three years here for [previous shop owner] Rick Ramsey. I just wanted to open up my own shop and he kind of wanted to step out, so it all worked together.”

The new shop sells motorcycles and ATVs and offers service for them. It’s open five days a week.

“Basically we sell all kinds of parts and accessories, tires, batteries,” Williams said. “We work on anything, ATVs, street bikes, scooters. We can special order, usually it arrives in a day or two.”
