Zero debuts 2013 electric motorcycle lineup at Long Beach IMS

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Zero Motorcycles will unveil its five all-new 2013 models this weekend at the Progressive International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, Calif.

2013 Zero Motorcycles Zero SChief among this lineup is the new Zero S, the electric sportbike that gets a claimed 137-mile range on single charge, with a top speed of 95 mph. The rest of the models include the Zero DS, Zero MX, Zero XU and the Zero FX.

The debut will showcase the 2013 lineups all-new appearance, improved range and top speed, and the new CHAdeMO quick-charging accessory, said Scot Harden, Zero’s vice president of global marketing.

At the Long Beach show, Zero Motorcycles will be hosting its first North American press conference to announce and showcase the 2013 bikes to attending media. It first launched the new bikes at the Intermot motorcycle swhow in Cologne.

For 2013 Zero has switched over to its air-cooled and compact Z-Force motor, which it says is incredibly powerful and highly efficient. The motor operates on a higher voltage Z-Force power pack which, when charged at a CHAdeMO charging station, can be brought up to 95 percent in an hour or less, Zero says.

Zero Motorcycles will also be attending six additional shows along Progressive International Motorcycle Shows tour, including Seattle (Dec. 14-16), Washington, D.C. (Jan. 4-6), Minneapolis (Jan. 11-13), New York City (Jan. 18-20), Chicago (Feb. 8-10) and Indianapolis (Feb. 15-17).
