AGV unveils race-ready Pista GP helmet

RIVALTA SCRIVIA, Italy – AGV is now selling the Pista GP, a full carbon fiber helmet designed specifically for racing.

The helmet is the result of the AGV Extreme Standards Helmets project.

The Pista GP ($1399.95) was designed, developed and tested with Valentino Rossi, and it features a number of changes and enhancements from AGV’s GP-Tech model. The Integrated Ventilation System, AGV said, provides improved air intake by 193 percent. The field of vision is 15 degrees wider while the quick release visor mechanism is 71 percent smaller. A redesigned shell, including a rear spoiler, provides improved aerodynamics at high speed.

Sizing ranges from XS to XXL, and the cheek pads can be replaced with different thicknesses for a precise fit.

AGV said it will be bringing the Pista GP to the U.S. market only in limited quantities.

AGV’s Extreme Standards Helmets project starts with 3D models of riders’ heads and faces for a better fit. Computer testing analyzes crash scenarios, and wind tunnel testing is used for aerodynamic fine-tuning. Other helmets benefitting from the project are the Corsa and GT Veloce.
