Although, as a dealership, we did not officially organize the Rally itself, the Kentucky State H.O.G. Rally grounds were on the same block as our dealership.
With a number of Rally Committee members from our local Man O' War HOG Chapter, and one employee who was the event coordinator, we could not help but be intimately involved in the event. We hosted the kickoff party pig roast, opening ceremonies and closing ceremonies. The opening ceremony dinner was prepared by us at the dealership.
We barbecued over 1,000 lbs. of pork, served 1,500 people within 45 minutes, hosted the ceremony, and our employee's band played two great sets of rock, blues, and Americana. The turnout was a huge success, More than three times as many attended the 2012 Rally than the previous year at another location. There were HOG chapters from all over the country, and we hosted motorcyclists in record numbers for four days.
There even was a HOG chapter from Maryland who had lost its charter because their local dealership closed down. They had such a good time and felt so welcomed by the Man O' War chapter that they wanted to be members of the chapter. They adopted us as their home dealer, became Man O' War chapter members, and we have sold several bikes to them since. It was an incredible experience, which taught us how to host at an entirely new level.
