LONG BEACH, CA – Long Beach BMW Motorcycles announced it is the first U.S. Dealer to offer BMW’s Virtual Reality Experience, providing customers with an opportunity to take virtual test rides on a variety of bikes.

“We are always looking for ways to get more non-riders interested in motorcycles,” said David Lindahl, co-owner and sales manager. “There is certainly no substitute for the feeling you get when you’re on a bike, but for people who haven’t yet learned how to ride, it’s a fun way for them to see what they’re missing.”

Users wear an Oculus Gear VR headset providing 360-degree visuals, and over-ear headphones with a Subpac wearable subwoofer, which transmits the feeling of the roaring engine to the user.

“The virtual reality experience definitely appeals to non-riders, but even seasoned motorcyclists are enjoying it,” added Charles Berthon, co-owner and general manager.

Students in local motorcycle rider safety programs are already using the setup, taking “rides”  around the track on a S 1000 RR, on a dirt trail with the R 1200 GS, and on country roads on a R nine T.
