Polaris recalls 16,800 RZR 170s, two problems identified

MEDINA, MN – Polaris Industries is recalling all youth RZR 170 and RZR 170 EFI vehicles from the 2015 through 2017 model years, because the fuel tank neck can crack, or the wiring harness can overheat or short circuit.

The recall involves about 16,800 units. Polaris has issued a “stop use” order to consumers.

The company said it received 102 reports of cracked fuel tank necks. It also received 28 reports of burning, smoking, melted and/or shorted wires, and four fires. No injuries had been reported, it added.

The RZR 170s were manufactured in Taiwan and sold by Dealers from February 2015 through July 2017.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission recall number is 17-195. The recall began July 25.
