SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Safe riding gear ambassador Brittany Morrow has relaunched the website rockthegear.org, which promotes gearing up while riding and shares news about the latest motorcycle gear and protective gear technology.
Morrow started the site in 2008 with funding from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Her inspiration came after a crash while she was a passenger on a sportbike. Morrow was not wearing gear, and she had to receive skin grafts on more than 50 percent of her body. Since then, she has been an advocate for always wearing a full complement of safety gear.
With the relaunched version of Rock the Gear, visitors can take the “I Rock the Gear” pledge to sign up for future notifications.
Morrow said, “I’m not trying to sell anything, but I do hope that riders ‘buy into’ an idea that wearing gear is a smart choice for individuals, their family and friends, their wallets and the community as a whole.”
Rock the Gear relaunched March 2, and word has quickly spread. “I’ve been relying solely on social media to spread the word about the relaunch since Sunday,” Morrow said. “Motorcyclists who value the message and quality of information have been extremely supportive by reposting, retweeting and reblogging in great numbers.”
Morrow will also be doing some live promotions with gear fittings and presentations at two upcoming Icon Freestyle events in California. She will be at South Bay Motorsports in Chula Vista on April 5, from 12:30-5 p.m. On June 4, she will be at Chaparral Motorsports in San Bernardino from 5-8 p.m.
