Scot Harden

SUNBURY, OH – Dealernews announces that Scot Harden has joined the Dealernews editorial advisory board.

“I look forward to working with the advisory board at Dealernews,” Harden said. “I’ve been a strong advocate of the new Dealernews mission ever since the relaunch, and believe it’s a huge asset to the powersports industry. Dealernews is a great resource for information and insight for Dealers to help them run their businesses more effectively and to help them stay abreast of latest trends. I’m honored to contribute in any way I can.”

Harden, a member of the AMA Hall of Fame, is principal of Harden Off-Road, a business consultancy in operation since 1987. He has an extensive industry pedigree, including business development roles at KTM, Husqvarna, BMW and Zero Motorcycles.

“Scot can deliver solid, rational advice to Dealers as they look to expand their markets and reach new audiences,” said Mary Green, editor at Dealernews. “Our latest story on, for example, is an interview with Scot on electrics. Is the timing right for Dealers to carry an e-bike line? Maybe, but maybe not yet. Scot provides critical details every Dealer must know.”

Dealernews Chairman and Co-Owner Stan Simpson says he’s known Scot for more than 35 years. “I knew him best as a top-ranked racer when I was racing professionally. He is one of the most knowledgeable guys in our industry, especially when it comes to emerging vehicle markets,” Simpson said. “Scot also has the highest regard for the Dealer network – at the recent AIMExpo, Scot hung around the Dealernews booth and helped greet many of the Dealers who stopped by to talk. I, along with the other Dealernews principals – Bob Althoff and Scott Johnson – welcome Scot Harden to the board.”

Harden joins an Advisory Board that includes Dealer principals and select industry consultants. It is an active, working board, providing ongoing counsel and feedback to the Dealernews editors and owners. Board members include Joey Belmont of Big #1 Motorsports (Birmingham, AL), Jim Boltz of Lynnwood Cycle Barn (Marysville, WA) and the Washington State Motorsport Dealers Association, Jim Foster of Killeen Power Sports in Texas, Malcolm Hunter (ret.) of Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada, Robert Kay of Star City Motorsports and Platte River Harley-Davidson in Nebraska, Jerry Lenz of Beaverton Motorcycles (Tigard, OR), Kurt Mechling of Performance PowerSports (Seneca, SC), Dave Mungenast Jr. of Mungenast Motorsports (St. Louis, MO), Don Owens of Dothan Powersports (Dothan, AL), Mark Peterson of Southwest Superbikes (Dallas, TX), Sandy Stroope of Boat World Honda Polaris (Harrison, AR), along with industry veterans such as Mike Vaughan, former publisher of Dealernews, consultant Laura Lemco, and off-road riding advocate Dennis Larratt.
