The American Motorcyclist Association is grateful for the sacrifice of United States armed forces personnel who have given their lives in defense of our country and freedoms, and extends its deepest gratitude to their families and friends this Memorial Day, May 25.

"Motorcycle riding and racing, as well as traveling throughout the nation, are just a few of the freedoms that many American servicemen and servicewomen have given their lives to defend," AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman said. "We are thankful for their service that has preserved those freedoms and use this holiday to offer our solemn gratitude for their sacrifices."

Though travel restrictions remain in place in many parts of the nation, Americans, including motorcyclists, will be using the nation's roadways be using the nation's roadways during the holiday weekend to travel to parks, memorial services and beaches or simply to enjoy the nation's many picturesque landscapes.

The AMA encourages motorists to be alert to motorcyclists who will be sharing the road. And motorcyclists must exercise additional caution. Please ride and drive sober, be courteous and obey all traffic laws.

“All road users should avoid distracted or impaired driving," Dingman said. "Many motorists have not had much time behind the wheel the past several months due to coronavirus pandemic travel restrictions. We encourage everyone riding or driving this weekend to allow plenty of time to reach their destinations, because the nation's roads will be much busier than they have been recently.”
