Speak now, or forever hold your peace. "The deadline for submitting comments opposing the proposed tariffs of up to 100% on EU motorcycles (500-700cc), all parts and all accessories, is July 26th," says Scott Schloegel, Senior Vice President, Government Relations for the Motorcycle Industry Council. Known as "the Extension of Particular Exclusions Granted Under the $300 Billion Action Pursuant to Section 301: China's Acts, Policies, and Practices Related to Technology Transfer, Intellectual Property, and Innovation (List 4A)," the period for commentary is ending.
"At this time, USTR is only considering product exclusion notices issued prior to June 12, 202," cautions Schloegel. "Specific products listed are within 8-digit HTS codes cited in MIC testimony, though certain items may not be relevant to the powersports industry." The MIC GRO has repeatedly advocated for elimination of China tariffs for motorcycles, parts, and accessories. They have also advocated with federal agencies, submitted written letters of support for exclusion requests submitted by MIC’s members, and testified before the USTR.
