After a successful Ride With Us motorcycle pilot program, the Motorcycle Industry Council has announced it will be engaging new riders at all the Overland Expos this season, including Overland Expo Pacific Northwest at the Deschutes Center in Redmond, Washington July 8-10. A host of additional activities including Rally Games, BMW MOA Motorcycle camping, demo rides and more have been incorporated as motorcycles are definitely on the map for the 2022 Overland Expo events.
“We had an overwhelmingly positive response last year to our Ride With Us initiative and we are looking to bring the Moto Intro experience to even more people this year,” MIC Vice President of Market Expansion Cinnamon Kernes said. “There is nothing quite like experiencing your first dirt bike and our Moto Intro coaches help create a fun, pressure-free environment, giving everyone the opportunity to try.”
Expanding their first ride experience program to the dirt, the Motorcycle Industry Council is delivering their free, 45-minute Ride With Us Moto Intro to the Overland Expo shows. The Ride With Us Moto Intros give prospective riders the opportunity to experience the thrill of their first ride and during the Overland Expos riders will be on dirt bikes in a closed dirt course.
“The Ride With Us Program is a great fit for Overlanders. MIC provides all the gear, bikes, and coaches, giving our attendees yet another way to experience an adventure,” Overland Expo Motorcycle Community Coordinator Eva Rupert said. “Our events focus on education and preparing people for their travels. These Moto Intros, which give our attendees their first dirt bike ride and help them explore the possibilities on two wheels, are perfect for our audience.”
The message to more experienced motorcyclists is bring your riding gear! Royal Enfield will be letting riders experience the revamped Himalayans all weekend, whilst Triumph will be demoing Tiger 900 and Scrambler 1200s. Ural will be on hand working to develop and refine the best adventure ready sidecar motorcycles available. Eco friendly ebikes from Voltaire Cycles, Volcon ePowersports, BAKCOU and Ubco will also be available.
All riders are welcome to camp with the BMW MOA crew, no GS required. The BMW Motorcycle Owners Association is hosting the Motorcycle Campground at Overland Expo, "Pack your panniers and grab a Weekend Pass with Camping or Overland Experience ticket and spend the weekend under the pines with the MOA... plus they will be serving up Bivouac coffee in the morning.
After coffee, hit the demo rides or head up to the M.E.S.A. (Motorcycle Expedition Skills Area) for a master class in ADV riding conducted by Bill Dragoo of Dragoo Adventure Rider Training (D.A.R.T.). Dragoo promises top-notch instruction on ADV riding skills for those new to off-pavement motorcycling or wanting to advance skillset. "We have classes for every level and all bike sizes are welcome," invites Dragoo.
Billed as “the world’s premier event series for adventure travel enthusiasts," Overland Expo offers a weekend get-away for not only ADV motorcycle riders but 4x4 automotive enthusiasts, a prime target audience for future motorcyclists. The current Overland Expo event schedule:
