Too early for trick or treat, but COVID continues to confound the race world. The trick is that the Japanese Grand Prix is a DNS for 2021, the treat for American MotoGP fans is that the USGP is back on the docket! The previously postponed Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas at COTA will now take place October 1-3, 2021.

FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports have confirmed the cancellation of the Motul Grand Prix of Japan. “The ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic and resulting travel complications and logistical restrictions mean that it has not been possible to go ahead with the Japanese round at this time meaning that it will not be featured on the 2021 calendar,” states series promoter Dorna. “The FIM MotoGP World Championship looks forward to returning to race in front of the Japanese fans at their home Grand Prix in 2022."

The unexpected return to COTA means some additional MotoGP schedule adjustments. The OR Grand Prix of Thailand is now set to take place a week later than previously scheduled. The traveling circus will make the long trip from Texas to Thailand to race October 15-17. See the full schedule of event on Dealernews' Calendar page:
