Monday marks the 30th Anniversary of another of Aerostich Founder Andy Goldfine’s bright ideas. The goal of the annual Ride to Work Day is to advocate the use of motorcycles…. not only for transportation, but also to show the public the utility of riding each day. In particular, how motorcycles reduce traffic congestion and how much less space they take to park.
Of course motorcycle industry types are quick to quip, "Everyday is ride to work day." The good idea is now a full-fledged non-profit and responds to the flippant, but well meaning comments with:
“Yes. Yes. Yes. We agree! However, the annual #ridetoworkday was developed to bring public and media attention on the practical, useful and beneficial aspects of motorcycling.” Use the day to promote your business and motorcycle riding as a positive alternative. “If you organize a Ride To Work Day breakfast or gathering, let local news know. This event is made for news media to showcase the societal benefits of daily motorcycling and to give riders the opportunity to present their riding activities to friends, family, and co-workers in a positive light.
“For example, most people don't realize that motorcycles create more parking spaces and less road congestion for automobile drivers.” The organization even offers a full array of propaganda to promote the benefits of riding to work:
