STOCK SWAP BETWEEN BAJAJ AND KTM

Bajaj has swapped shares in KTM for a stake in parent Pierer Mobility. According to The Economic Times of India, Bajaj Auto has swapped its 46.5% stake in KTM for shares in parent company Pierer Mobility. It gets convoluted, as can be expected of high finance, but the bottom line equates to a 49.9% share of PTW Holding AG, which in turn holds a 60% share of Pierer Mobility AG (PMAG).

Prior to the deal, Bajaj had held 48% of KTM AG while PMAG held the other 52% in KTM. Now Bajaj indirectly gets a piece of the Husqvarna/GasGas pie (on paper only, the existing CKD and manufacturing deals with KTM remain intact). KTM entered the Indian market via a partnership with Bajaj back in 2012, an event commemorated by the launch of the KTM Duke 200.
