“I’m not crying, I just got a little champagne in my eyes,” said Rachel Gutish from the top of the rostrum. “Words can’t describe how it felt to stand on top of the podium with my team, listening to the national anthem as it finally sank in that we were the world champions. It was a truly unforgettable moment that I will treasure the rest of my life.”
Led by Brandy Richards’ amazing performances, the U.S. Women’s World Trophy Team put a stamp on their dominant week-long performance Saturday to claim a major victory over Team Great Britain in the 2021 FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) in Lombardy-Piedmont, Italy. Even though she cut her arm on Day 5, Richards won every single stage, beating the entire world's fastest off-road ladies and most of the guys too — she finished 69th overall out of nearly 700 starters!
Gutish also had an exceptional week, finishing fourth overall on her Husqvana FX 350, while teammate and first-time ISDE competitor Britney Gallegos remained smooth and steady throughout the week on her Husky FX 250 to secure 15th overall in the Women’s division. “As an individual, I placed fourth in the women’s division - far better than any of my previous ISDEs. I’m proud of how I rode, I gave it my all and can look back with no regrets. The ISDE has always held a special place in my heart, and I’ve missed it dearly the last few years. Going back again to redeem myself after Spain felt like a second chance. You don’t always get those, and I’ll be making the most of it.”
